Pfizer Eyes Sale of Consumer Unit

Pfizer Inc. said late Tuesday it will explore strategic alternatives for its consumer products business, including a possible spinoff or sale. The business, which includes such household names as Listerine, Bengay and Benadryl, had 2005 sales of $3.88 billion worldwide, or 7.6% of Pfizer’s overall sales of $51.3 billion last year.
